Background in pure sciences (college), B.A. and M.A. degrees in Quebec Literature (minor in Writing), training in music. I have 25+ years of experience as a full-time freelance translator and writer. My practice focuses mostly on the labour movement (unions, labour relations), health sciences (research ethics boards, professional associations), and arts & culture (record companies, museums, artists’ associations, etc.). I have been translating in health sciences for 14 years, first for professors and graduate students, then for research ethics boards and researchers at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (research protocols, consent forms, questionnaires , etc.).
Strengths: excellent Quebecois and International French (read, spoken, written), excellent English (read and written; spoken: very good). In the course of my career, I have worked as a research assistant and a lecturer in Literature at Université de Sherbrooke; a radio host, show producer and programs/music director at a community radio station; a freelance writer for music websites (allmusic.com), magazines (Ici, Musicworks), festivals (FIMAV), and record labels (Ambiances Magnétiques, Baskaru); and a full-time freelance translator for the past 25 years.
